Broken Trustee:  Jervis in court

Former Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate Trustee Gerard Jervis was indicted March 20 on charges of criminal property damage, terroristic threatening, drunken driving and harassment....

"And that's exactly what he did, that he chased them down, he caught them and he took care of it himself. He stated that he would do that again and again and again, every day if it happened again every day," Delgadillo testified.....

But don't worry, soon the Akaka Bill may be law (we reported this on Nov 4, the Advertiser caught up to us on Dec 8) and future Broken trustees will be able to loot KSBE while shielded by Tribal Law against the kind of State and Federal oversight which drove Jervis from his position as a KSBE Trustee....

(Phony, Manufactured) "Anger" (by fearful OHA shakedown artists) on ceded-land stance escalates

After a week of media lies carried by every daily newspaper in the state, the Dec 11 Star-Bulletin finally got around to printing Governor Lingle and AG Bennett's statement pointing out that the State's position on Ceded Lands has remained the same under Waihee, Cayetano, and Lingle.

HFP.com readers were able to read the same statement when it was released by the Governor's office, December 7.

This media campaign is a warm-up exercise for Neil Abercrombie's Gubernatorial run.

Meanwhile the Advertiser is continuing to pump out lies from the OHA-Dan Akaka cronies who are desperately afraid that the US Supreme Court is about to slam dunk several decades of Hawaii State Supreme Court decisions which enable OHA to extract $ millions from almost any property development--even non-profit and government projects....

One crack in the Advertiser's story, Cayetano has come out backing the State's position....

Puna Geothermal looks to expand

HILO » Puna Geothermal Venture celebrated yesterday its 15th anniversary of producing up to 30 megawatts of electricity for the Big Island while also looking forward to doubling that amount in the future....

Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona told about 200 guests celebrating the anniversary that the addition of 180 megawatts by 2025 is a practical possibility.

Geothermal's current contribution of 30 megawatts is part of the 195 megawatts the island now uses....

O`ahu Rail tax collections drop $2M

Through October, the state has collected $61,233,859 from the Honolulu county surcharge, compared with $63,086,834 through the same time last year, according to the state Department of Taxation....

City officials hope to raise an inflation-adjusted $4 billion between 2007 and 2022 to pay for the 20-mile rail system. That, coupled with $925 million in anticipated federal funds, is expected to pay the $5 billion in capital costs associated with rail, according to the city....

Here's a math problem: $63M x 15 years= $945M

Mufi's shortfall?  $4B - $945M = $3.055B

Target to add 1,600 new jobs -- while others cut

Auto dealers are cutting 750 jobs as sales drop 20%

Next week retailer Target Corp. will begin hiring up to 1,200 people to staff its two O'ahu stores to open in March, followed by another 400 employees to be hired in May for a store on the Big Island....

Among workforce cuts this year: 1,900 people at Aloha Airlines; 274 at Maui Land & Pineapple; 169 at Hawaii Medical Center; 130 at DFS Group; 120 at Molokai Ranch; 118 at Servo Pacific; 91 at The Honolulu Advertiser; 85 at Weyerhaeuser Co.; 70 at Hawaiian Dredging; and 38 at Palama Meat Co....

Layoffs helped push the state unemployment rate to a seven-year high of 4.5 percent in October, the most recent month for which statistics are available.

October's unemployment rate equates to 30,250 unemployed in a labor force of 665,350. That compares with 2.8 percent unemployment, or 18,200 unemployed out of 647,300, in October 2007.
