Hawaii Boasts Most Expensive U.S. Destination for Presidents' Day Weekend

News Release from CheapHotels.org Feb. 13, 2014

Kihei, a small town on Hawaii's Maui Island, is the USA's most expensive destination this upcoming Presidents' Day weekend, based on the cost of its lodging. This finding was uncovered by the latest survey conducted by CheapHotels.org, which compared U.S. destinations according to their hotels rates for the period spanning February 14 to February 17 (Presidents' Day).

In Kihei, located on Maui's southwest shore, travelers will have to spend $416 per night for the most affordable double room. Runners up according to the survey are the ski destination of Vail, Colorado and Florida's Key West. Respectively, these two destinations are averaging $402 and $399 per night for the three-day holiday period. It must be noted that only such hotels rated at least 2 stars and with positive average customer evaluations have been considered for this survey.

Kihei's neighboring Wailea ranks fourth most expensive with an average rate of $359 per night. And with Waikoloa (The Big Island), Poipu (Kauai) and Kaanapali (Maui) also making a showing, three more Hawaiian destinations ranked among the Top 10 most expensive destinations for Presidents' Day weekend.

The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in the United States for this year's Presidents' Day weekend. The prices shown are based on the daily rate for each destination's cheapest available double room for the holiday time period spanning February 14 through 17.
