SEN. JOHN McCAIN ENDORSES DJOU FOR CONGRESS

News Release from Djou Campaign June 10, 2014

Today, Charles K. Djou’s congressional campaign announced the endorsement of his Congressional campaign by U.S. Senator John S. McCain III (R-Arizona).

“I have been impressed by Charles’ independence and integrity as a state legislator, city councilman and congressman.  Even more important, as one veteran to another, I am proud of Charles’ service to our country in Afghanistan,” stated Sen. McCain.  “As a political maverick myself, I respect Charles’ independent style of politics.  America needs good people with strong credentials and a willingness to stand up for what is right against the corrosive special interests in Washington D.C.”

“As a veteran, I am honored to have earned the support of an American hero in John McCain,” stated Congressman Djou.  “I look forward to working with Sen. McCain in Congress for the benefit of Hawaii and America.”

Sen. McCain represents Arizona in the U.S. Senate and was the 2008 Republican nominee for President.  Djou was introduced to Sen. McCain in 1998 by Orson Swindle.  Swindle was the GOP nominee for Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District in 1994 and 1996; both McCain and Swindle were POWs in Vietnam at the infamous “Hanoi Hilton.”

Djou: A Political Maverick

June 10, 2014

Aloha,

I first met Charles Djou in 1998 during a trip to Hawaii.  For years Hawaii has had a special place in my heart.  Both my father and grandfather served at Pearl Harbor as naval officers and I met my wife, Cindy, in Hawaii.  My close friend, Orson Swindle, introduced me to Charles, who at the time was a young rising star in Hawaii politics.

Over the years, I have been impressed by Charles’ independence and integrity as a state legislator, city councilman and congressman.  Even more importantly, as one veteran to another, I am proud of Charles’ service to our country.  In a time when too many politicians place self-interest first, Charles joined the Army Reserve right after the horrific attacks on our country on September 11, 2001.  He later answered the call to duty when he deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.

As one who’s been called a maverick myself, I respect Charles’ independent style of politics.  America needs good people with strong credentials and a willingness to stand up for what is right against the corrosive special interests in Washington D.C.

As a public servant, Charles has already proven that he is good to his word.  Charles has never voted for a tax increase and the first bill he co-sponsored when he represented Hawaii in Congress was the balanced budget amendment.  He knows that in these difficult economic times, we must bring fiscal responsibility back to the halls of Congress.

A strong campaign war chest is essential to Charles’ success in this race. Charles will need substantial financial resources to take on the ‘old boy network’ in Hawaii and your support will make all the difference.

Please contribute $500, $250 or even just $25 to support Charles today.  Whoever emerges out of the Democratic primary will be well-funded by the local political machine and mainland special interests.  We need to help Charles match them dollar for dollar.

This cannot wait.  We deserve better government and we need it now.

It is extremely rare in modern politics to find leaders like Charles – men and women willing to put self-interest aside and fight to create jobs, curb reckless spending, reduce our debt, and ensure a strong America for the next generation.  When good men and women like Charles stand up to run for office, we must support them.

Charles needs your help now.  Your contribution today of $100, $250, or $500 will make all the difference in building a winning campaign. For Charles to succeed, he needs your support immediately.

Thank you for your time and your support of a fellow veteran, independent maverick and my friend, Charles Djou.

Sincerely,

John S. McCain

U.S. Senator (R-Arizona)

P.S. A critical campaign deadline is fast approaching.  Charles needs to show strong financial numbers by June 30.  Please rush him a contribution of $500, $250 or whatever amount you can afford.  Together we will show the Washington special interests that they don’t own this election and that good people can still get elected to Congress today.
