Hawai'i Needs Poll Monitors!

A really great way you can partner with us in this important election effort is to volunteer to become a poll watcher.  If you are interested, and work through our office to help, you could choose to make a donation to Hawaii Family Forum.

The General Election is on Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Precinct Official's day starts at 5:30 a.m. and ends around 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. The polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m.  Each polling place is staffed with one Chairperson, one to four Voter Assistance Officials (VAOs) and three to fourteen Precinct Officials (POs).  The role of Precinct Officials are to monitor the various "Stations" in the polling place and assist voters throughout the voting process. The PO stipend is $85.

The great news is that if we can find 12 people who are interested, and if you are willing to allow it, that $85 stipend could be made to us!

Qualifications to become a Precinct Official include:
•    Be a registered voter or pre-registered to vote
•    Be 16 years of age on or before June 30, 2016
•    Be able to read and write English
•    Be able to lift 25 to 35 pounds; and
•    Attend one training session and pass an open-book certification exam
The following Precinct Official Trainings, approximately 1-hour in length, for your review and consideration:

They normally assign Precinct Officials to the polling place where they are assigned to vote, however, if that precinct is filled, they will ask you if they are willing to travel outside of their district.

If you are interested, please send us an email.  We encourage (and appreciate) your participation even if you choose not to use the opportunity to make a donation to us.
