Democrat Makes Appearance At GOP Convention: A prominent Democrat made a surprise appearance at Hawai`i's GOP convention Saturday. Before Lt. Gov. Duke Aiona, who was speaking at the convention in an informal kick-off of his campaign for governor delivered his speech, he was introduced by former Democratic state Sen. David Matsuura. GOP calls for civil unions veto: Gov. Linda Lingle says she still has not decided whether she will sign the measure authorizing civil unions, but adds she has concerns on the bill's language.
