Primary Election Day Reminders

The 2018 Primary Election is Saturday, August 11, 2018 and the Office of Elections and County Clerks of Hawaii would like to share a few Election Day reminders with Hawaii voters.

Election Day Reminders:

  • Know your polling place! Visit elections.hawaii.gov to find your polling place.
  • Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Anyone in line at 6:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
  • Be prepared to provide proof of identification. Forms of acceptable I.D. include a valid photo I.D., copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or other government issued document that shows your name and address.
  • View a sample of your ballot by visiting elections.hawaii.gov.

Vote-by-mail voters have till 6:00 p.m. on Election Day to submit their voted ballot to any polling place within their county. A voted ballot postmarked on Election Day, but not received by the Clerk’s office by 6:00 p.m. will not be accepted.

Qualified individuals may still register and participate in the Primary Election.

The qualifications to register and vote are you must be a U.S. Citizen, Hawaii resident, and at least 18 years old. Voters who plan to utilize election day registration are advised to find out where their polling place is prior to Election Day and to bring one form of ID. Acceptable ID includes a Hawaii Driver License, Hawaii State ID, Military ID, Passport, or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government issued document showing name and address.

Voters registering at the polls are reminded that they may experience increased wait times as they will be required to complete a Registration Affidavit Form and await confirmation that they are at the correct polling place.
