Today's Black Lives Matter Protest at Hawaii Republican Party

News Release from Hawaii Republican Party, June 6, 2020

Today many of our fellow citizens in the State of Hawaii grieved along with a Nation - turned upside down and wrenched by senseless violence and injustice.

Hundreds of the marchers today in the Black Lives Matter rally in Honolulu chose to leave their signs at the doorstep of the Hawaii Republican Party.

Many of them may not have understood the significance of it at that moment, believing they were engaging in another form of protest. The Hawaii Republican Party - is the Party of Abraham Lincoln, it is the Party of Prince Jonah Kuhio.

The Hawaii Republican Party is the proper home of those who love our fundamental Hawaiian and American Values.

From the First Amendment to the Constitution "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Popular speech needing no protection, the First Amendment enshrines our right to have difficult conversations, and particularly to peacefully assemble and address our Government for redress.

From the Fifth Amendment which was tragically and cruelly denied George Floyd - "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

From the Constitution of the State of Hawaii "Section 2. All persons are free by nature and are equal in their inherent and inalienable rights. Among these rights are the enjoyment of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and the acquiring and possessing of property. These rights cannot endure unless the people recognize their corresponding obligations and responsibilities."

For those grieving, at the failure to protect life, at the failures to defend liberty, and those who understand that Freedom of Speech is a sacred right - the Hawaii Republican Party is your home. The Hawaii Republican Party is committed to constraining the over reach of Government, and providing those functions of Government that are necessary and good - competently, and with zeal to protect the rights (all of them) of our citizens and defend the Constitution of our Nation and State.

If you love freedom and liberty, the Hawaii Republican Party is your home.
