FBI carries out massive operation on Oahu to arrest businessman accused of murder

HNN July 15, 2020: … The FBI flew in dozens of agents for this operation, including a SWAT team from Quantico, Virginia, sources told Hawaii News Now.

Several locations were hit, including a home in Kailua, where businessman Mike Miske was arrested on a warrant for multiple charges that includes murder.

Miske was seen being put into a car heading to the federal detention center.

This stems from case involving missing man Jonathan Fraser, who was in a car accident with Miske's son, Caleb Miske.

Caleb died of his injuries in March of 2016. Fraser recovered but went missing in July of 2016.

The FBI is not confirming these raids are the result of that investigation or who they arrested, but sources say this is the result of a grand jury indictment…..

FBI investigation leads to numerous arrests across Oahu, including business man accused of murder

KHON July 15, 2020: … The FBI arrested 11 individuals, including businessman Michael J. Miske, Jr. on a warrant for multiple charges that includes fraud, obstruction of justice and murder.

The indictment alleges that Miske offered to pay several of his co-defendants to kidnap and murder Johnathan Fraser, who went missing in July of 2016. It further alleges that a co-conspirator, who was not charged, took Fraser’s girlfriend to a spa so they would not be together during the kidnapping. Miske had, according to the indictment, purchased a Boston Whaler “that could be used to dump Fraser’s body into the ocean after Fraser was kidnapped and killed.”

Among several other charges, Miske and his alleged associates are also accused of attempted murder of a second victim, who was believed by the conspirators to be cooperating with law enforcement.

The indictment also charges several of the defendants with releasing a chemical weapon, chloropicrin, into a Honolulu nightclub that the defendants “did not intend to use for a peaceful or other lawful purpose.” Chloropicrin, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has been used as a riot control agent….

Katherine Kealoha Retaliated on HPD Officers over Miske Traffic Ticket

Civil Beat Feb 27, 2019: ... Lee was expected to answer questions about a 2015 incident in which one of his officers, Jared Spiker, pulled over Michael Miske, a local Honolulu businessman and convicted felon, for being on his cell phone while driving.

According to police reports, Miske fled the scene before Spiker could give him a citation. Miske then called Spiker to see if they could “work something out.”

The reports state Miske called Spiker a couple days later, this time while Lee was listening in with the speakerphone turned on.

Lee heard the man threaten Spiker, telling him he “better be careful of the choices you made.”

“I can press charges just as much as you can,” Miske said, according to the reports. “Don’t go throwing your guys weight around. I can go to the top of the food chain. You’ll see, Jared Spiker.”

Lee eventually arrested Miske. He was charged with a petty misdemeanor for disobedience to a police officer, pleaded no contest and paid a fine.

Kau said that after that incident Katherine Kealoha had one of the investigators in her office file an internal affairs complaint against Lee at HPD, where her husband was still chief.

She also says Kealoha had called Spiker directly and told him to back off....

HNN: Price said that Miske could face the death penalty because of the seriousness of the allegations against him  --  One defendant charged in the indictment remains at large: Norman Akau III. Authorities say he is wanted and have asked for any information on his whereabouts.  Meanwhile, target or subject letters have been issued to eight others in connection with the investigation, indicating that more arrests and charges are likely. … Moon and Bermudez are already in state custody for a 2016 murder at Ala Moana Center.  (See: Christmas 2016 murder)

SA July 16, 2020: The FBI said Akau turned himself in to authorities Wednesday.
