199 Candidates Register for Honolulu Neighborhood Board Elections
By Selected News Articles @ 11:50 PM :: 6295 Views :: Honolulu County

Sixty-six candidates have registered for the upcoming Honolulu Neighborhood Board elections over the past two weeks bringing the total to 199.

Candidate filing is open through February 15, 2013 for Honolulu Neighborhood Board elections. Candidates may register online at the NB election webpage. (NOTE 1-28-13: The text of this article was copied directly from the NCO website.  The Neighborhood Commission Office previously reported the filing deadline as Feb. 22, 2013.  According to an email received today from NCO employee Bryan Mick, the correct deadline is Feb 15.  The NCO has changed its website accordingly.)

Oahu residents 18 years of age by February 15, 2013 can run, including military personnel, military family members, and legal resident aliens.

The newly elected Boards take office July 1, 2013 and serve until June 30, 2015.

To determine which of the 36 Neighborhood Boards includes your home, there is a street index posted online. Assistance is also available by calling 768-3717.

The election is conducted entirely on-line and by telephone. Voting runs from April 26, 2013 through May 17, 2013.

If you registered to vote in the 2012 State elections, you are automatically eligible to vote in the 2013 Neighborhood Board elections. If you did not register in the 2012 State election, you can register for the 2013 Neighborhood Board elections by submitting a Voter Registration Form to the Neighborhood Commission Office (NCO). These forms can be downloaded from the NCO website and are also available at the NCO. All forms must be hand delivered to the NCO or postmarked by February 15, 2013. Assistance is also available by calling 768-3717.
