GOP: LoPresti 'admitted criminal acts'--Should drop out of Race
By Brett Kulbis @ 11:49 AM :: 7225 Views :: Ethics, Politicians

HONOLULU COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR DEMOCRAT SENATE DISTRICT 19 CANDIDATE MATT LOPRESTI TO WITHDRAW FROM THE RACE AND FACE THE CONSEQUENCES FOR HIS REPREHENSIBLE CRIMINAL ACTS IN 2018 AND 2016!

News Release from Honolulu County Republican Party, August 26, 2018

Ewa Beach, Hawaii -- The Honolulu County Republican Party Chairman and Ewa Beach resident Brett Kulbis calls for State Senate District 19 (Ewa, Ewa Beach, Ewa Gentry, Ewa Villages, Hoakalei, Ocean Pointe, and Iroquois Point) Democratic candidate Matt Lopresti to immediately withdraw from the State Senate 19 race; to allow the Hawaii Democratic Party to nominate another candidate less ethically challenged.

Chairman Kulbis stated, “Mr. Lopresti’s actions of stealing the door hangers of his opponent is not someone the hard working voters of Ewa Beach deserve or want, and his actions are an affront to the law abiding values of the those he wants to represent. If he has any integrity he would withdraw from the race immediately.”

Chairman Kulbis also called on former Senator Will Espero, House District 40 candidate Rose Martinez, House District 41 candidate Rida Cabanilla, and Democrat Councilwoman Kym Pine (who has made substantial campaign contributions to Lopresti’s 2016 race prior to switching parties) to publicly admonish Mr. Lopresti. "These former, present and hopeful Democrat leaders should publicly denounce Matt Lopresti immediately.  It’s an outrage but not surprising that these so called community leaders are turning a blind eye to their fellow party member’s unethical tactics to steal the election in 2018.  It’s time they denounced LoPresti and distanced themselves from his criminal actions,” Kulbis demanded.

Chairman Kulbis also demands that State Attorney General Russel Suzuki open a criminal investigation and take appropriate legal action to hold Mr. Lopresti accountable for his admitted criminal acts in both 2018 and 2016, including coercing his Staff to lie to Capitol Police in filing false reports in order to obtain a TRO against his 2016 opponent after being caught red-handed stealing campaign signs.

Additionally, Honolulu County GOP chair Kulbis urges Hawaii Pacific University President John Gotanda, J.D. to revisit Mr. Lopresti’s Associate Professor employment status stating, “As a parent I would not want this type of educator shaping the mind of my child, especially with the cost of college today. HPU really needs to revisit their criteria for screening Professors, this type of behavior does not manifest itself overnight, so there must have been red flags.”
