BACKGROUND: In November 2021, the first round of community meetings introduced the GR study; gathered initial input and ideas from the community; and included an interactive workshop to brainstorm potential solutions and identify concerns in the study area. In January 2022, the study team presented a revised public engagement and communications strategy that included additional virtual public meetings and enhanced online engagement opportunities. In April 2022, a series of workshops were held to discuss the development and screening of flood risk management measures throughout the watershed. In July 2022, another series of workshops were held to discuss the initial array of alternative flood risk management plans.
NEXT STEPS: In June 2023, the public will have an opportunity to provide formal comments on the draft report and tentatively selected plan. After completion of the final report in late 2023 or early 2024, there will be another opportunity for the public to discuss and provide feedback on the final recommendation by USACE. In addition to the public meetings and workshops, the public can engage the study team via several online mechanisms available 24/7.
