Hawaii Sue and Settle vs. Ashley Madison

Rules will put more Homeless people on streets

SA: The imposition of new regulations on homeless shelters by the state Department of Human Services will directly cause additional homelessness (“Shelter in Waipahu to close over state’s new homeless rules,” Star-Advertiser, Dec. 20).

It will cause shelters like Waipahu Lighthouse and others to close, eliminating up to 662 beds and putting many people out on the street again….

NBC News Really Embarrassing Hanabusa Fluff Piece

NBC: Rep. Colleen Hanabusa remembers roller skating with her cousins in downtown Honolulu in an area called Kaimuki during her childhood. There, the sidewalks were smooth concrete — easier to skate on and less painful to fall on than the asphalt in the poorer neighborhood of Waianae, where she grew up.

That inequity between Kaimuki and Waianae, which Hanabusa calls somewhat of a forgotten part of Honolulu, always stuck with her and eventually pushed her into public service.

(No.  It was Larry Mehau.)

But perhaps her most notable accomplishment was being elected to serve as president of the Hawaii State Senate in 2007, making her the first woman to lead either chamber of Hawaii's legislature and the first Asian-American woman to lead a chamber of a state legislature in the United States, she said.

Because Asian Americans dominated Hawaii's legislature, Hanabusa said that that part of the milestone didn't resonate with her as much as the fact that she was the Hawaii's first woman to lead a legislative chamber.

(No mention of Hanabusa in 1998 organizing the rejection of the reappointment of Hawaii's first female Attorney General, Margery Bronster, at the behest of Larry Mehau in an effort to protect the corrupt thieving Broken Trustees of Kamehameha Schools.)

5,009 Electric Vehicles Registered in Hawaii

SA: “We have a lot of public policy that promotes the use of electric vehicles,” he said.

Incentives for EVs include free parking at state and county government lots and parking meters. EVs are also exempt from high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane restrictions. The state’s dominant electrical utility, Hawaiian Electric Co., has a time-of-use rate program for EV owners that offers discounted rates if customers charge their EVs during off-peak times.
