No reason to pull a Democrat ballot Sept 18

Dear Editor:

I recently received an e-mail from Ed Case in which he wrote:

"I've known and worked with [Mufi] Hannemann ... as I've watched him in public office I've come to view him as the most dangerous politician in a generation, because his talents mask an agenda which, if successful, will set Hawai'i back a generation. He is the product and clear choice of a political machine that must end ... It would be a singular achievement for us all to vote in the Democratic primary to reject the brand of fear-based exclusionary machine politics practiced by Hannemann, and to then each and all make an issues-based choice between Abercrombie and Aiona in the general election."

Contrary to what the former U.S. Representative would have you believe, no Hawaii voter - should pull a Democrat ballot in the September 18th Primary Election. For what is now approaching six decades Hawaii Democrats have squandered the taxpayer's wealth, made government bigger while providing the worst services and infrastructure and yet have the nerve to knock on the doors of Hawaii's voters every two and four years with a message that they are the party that protects keiki, kupuna, and kanaka. Their incumbents have shown the Hawaii brand of the Democratic Party to be one of extremism and backwardness.

Let's look at the facts: today, less than 4 out of 10 people have $10,000 or more in personal savings. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the Federal budget deficit will surpass $1.3 trillion this year and has taxpayers penciled in to pay $2.2 trillion in income taxes over the next decade.  The average duration that a person remains unemployed is now longer than its ever been in the entire history of America. And what do Hawaii Democrats say is the answer to Hawaii's problems? Grab more Federal funding - that is, more printed dollars that are backed by nothing, more dollars that are actually floated by loans of upwards of $3 billion dollars per day from the People's Republic of China. Hawaii Democrats call themselves the party of the people? Well, I'm not surprised, because they're all masters of hyperinflation.

Hawaii voters need to send a message to the Democrats that they are out of touch and out of time with the people by using the Primary as a referendum against them.

No matter who wins the Democratic Primary, the public still loses. Mufi Hannemann and Neil Abercrombie will decide amongst each other who will be "Hawaii Democrat enough" to represent their party in November. As for you, the voter, your task is to show the Democrats who is boss - and that's you and your ohana.

The best Hawaii Democrat is still the worst when it comes to understanding how an economy works, what makes a people free and how to listen to the will of the people. They don't realize that an abundance of cheap money from Washington doesn't stimulate jobs or wealth, it only stimulates mal-investment and exotic financial decisions that make the economy worse.

Sincerely,

Danny de Gracia, II, Waipahu, Oahu

A threat from the Carroll Campaign

To Editor Hawaii Free Press:

Please be advised that this is my 3rd attempt to inform you and your staff that there is a "FEDERAL LAW " stating that you must give "ALL" candidates "EQUAL TIME" on tv, on radio and in the print news of which your print is violating that law.

Please be advised once again that Candidate John Carroll's campaign for Governor is alive and well and gaining percentage points on Aiona and Ambercrombie (sic). I would highly suggest that you contact candidate John Carroll  via telephone for an immediate press release on his candidacy or I will have no alternative but to turn my concerns and findings over to the Federal courts for an immediate decision and court order to include candiate (sic) John Carroll for Governor in your next edition of the Hawaii Free Press.

Editor's Reply: At Hawai'i Free Press we do not take orders from any body--especially candidates--about what to print.  There is no "equal time" law and as long as the FCC doesn't get control of the Internet, via the phony "Net Neutrality" scam, there won't be one.

BTW:

How's THAT for coverage?

Unrecorded Honolulu Council meetings

Dear Councilmembers,

You may recall I testified in support of continued coverage of council committee meetings and that council approved a budget of approximately $100,000 to cover all council meetings for this fiscal year.  I am very concerned that NO council meetings from July or the first several days of August are available for viewing on Olelo – not even the full council meeting that was shown live on July 14. There is also nothing listed for tomorrow’s public safety or transportation committee meetings.

Why are these meetings not available on demand at http://olelo.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=9  as prior meetings were?  Earlier this year I had to go back to some meetings that were held in 2009.  It was very helpful and efficient to be able to go to any given point in a meeting by using the available indexing.  I will not be able to view the 1 p.m. Public Safety & Services Committee meeting, even if it is telecast live, and would therefore like to be able to view it later.

Open government is key to public involvement.  I urge you to find out why these recordings are not taking place and solve this issue before any other council meetings go unrecorded.

Aloha,

Natalie Iwasa, Honolulu, HI

Same Sex Automatons

Dear Editor,

The Grand Imperial Elites of Obamatopia are currently in the process of attempting to overturn thousands of years of original understanding of the term “marriage” in order to spare us unwashed commoners from the wages of our collective ignorance. Never mind the fact that every time same-sex marriage (even when disguised under a different name) is put to a public vote (even in liberal Hawaii), it loses. They know better, you see, and must zealously guard The Truth with savage alacrity, lest we doom ourselves to no greater understanding than the mere “common sense” of the proletariat.

How else could one characterize the maternal shushing of alternative viewpoints, the massive amount of purported inertia expressed in so many variegated ways, and the bombastic multi-front fervor in which the Bourgeoisie Obama Administration and their minions have attacked traditional understanding of conjugal relations.  Indeed, the sheer number of testimonies that “people are born gay” seems to lend weight to the case, unless………...we consider what the actual scientific authorities in a position to know better have to say, and incorporate that testimony with a little bit of modal logic (the logic of what is possibly the case, as contrasted to what is necessarily, and necessarily not the case).

For government to pro-actively decide to confer a set of benefits on a particular interest group (especially in a bad recession), there’d better be a very compelling reason. According to The American Psychological Association and Dr. Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project, no "gay gene" has been found, and homosexuality is not hardwired, meaning that although there are overlapping and complex reasons that people become homosexual, homosexuals are not born that way:

"[S]exual orientation is genetically influenced but not hardwired by DNA, and that whatever genes are involved represent predispositions, not predeterminations."--p. 260, The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief, Dr. Francis Collins, 2006.

A bit of reflection on this matter leads eventually to the obvious supportive truth that any gene that prohibits procreation will not be passed on to offspring (think about it). “A desire” does not equal “a trait”, even in the face of negative consequences (eg. drugs and alcohol). So: 1) it does not seem that a “gay gene” would ever be possible to begin with, and 2) when they examine the data, they find no gay gene. There is only one conclusion that is possible here. Human Free Will is a necessary component to homosexual action.

Therefore, the analogy to civil rights struggle is imprecise; the homosexual lobby is an interest group seeking to dovetail onto the nobility of the real civil rights movement, which pursued equality of opportunity with regard to inherent traits, not for acquired behavior patterns. There is a huge gulf between the two, and the conflation of these two categories is cheapening and insulting to those who have been unjustly persecuted for an inherent trait.

This is not the first time this has been stated. This information has been out there for quite a while. Nevertheless, same-sex marriage advocates proceed robotically, as if they are not programmed to be bothered with the facts. When I point out these facts to activists, that is exactly the attitude I get, despite the fact that they are making a bold claim (“people are born gay!”), and as with all claims, the burden of proof is on the claimant. Until that burden of proof is satisfied, the good folks who oppose same-sex unions are morally justified in acting just as robotically in their opposition. Ad hominem attacks as a proxy for proof will avail their case nothing.

Steve Williams,

Honolulu, Oahu
