More Opportunities to Raise Your Voice to "Let the People Decide on Marriage"!

Aloha              November 11, 2013

First and foremost, we want to thank all of those members of our constituency that have served in the United States Armed Forces.  You have defended our freedom, and we salute you!  May God continue to bless you and your family as we honor you today.

Many of you have written, or called, to ask what is next and we want to assure you that Hawaii Family Advocates is not going anywhere.  In fact, we are more determined than ever to continue to encourage the community to raise their voices and to help each of you REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER, 2014.

There are several things that we need you to do:

Come down to the Senate Chambers before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday with your LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE ON MARRIAGE signs.  We want to continue to remind the legislature that in 1998 the voters overwhelmingly decided against redefining marriage and any change to that decision should be DECIDED BY THE PEOPLE and not the legislature.

Come to Abercrombie's Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. (98-456 Ka‘ahele St): Governor Neil Abercrombie is having a "question and answer" session in Aiea/Pearl City (please see the attached flyer for detailed information).  For those who cannot make it to the Senate rally, what we need most is a very strong showing against Abercrombie.  We will be sign-waving outside of the town hall, and we are hoping to get as many people into the meeting as possible and flood him with questions. Many of you have asked about how you can voice your concerns to the Governor about his support of this contentious issue.  This is your opportunity.  (READ THE GOVERNOR'S STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF SB1 HD1)

Be prepared for further instructions regarding the Governor's Press Conference for signing the bill into law which may happen tomorrow.  We will send you another email once we have more information about this and what we will need you to do.

DONATE TODAY to help pay the legal costs for the current lawsuit against the state for misleading the people of Hawaii in 1998.  THIS LINK will take you to a page where you can make an immediate online donation to Hawaii Family Advocates.  Please note that you will still need to fill out the information listed on the page (print and send to us in the mail) after you make the online donation.

WATCH REP. SHARON HAR as she does a phenomenal job on the floor explaining why she voted against SB1 HD1 and why it is not good for the people of Hawaii.

Mahalo for your ongoing prayers and support.  VISIT OUR WEBSITE to see exactly how your legislator voted and to view any current updates.

Sincerely,

Jim Hochberg, Esq.

President, Hawaii Family Advocates
