Why Marissa is Running for Congress

From www.VoteMarissa.com

Aloha! And Hauoli Makahiki Hou. I hope your new year is off to a great start.

As for me, I've made a resolution that I intend to stick with for the next twelve months. After a lot of reflection and soul-searching, I've made a decision which draws upon my many years in business, my experience raising a family in Makakilo, and the lessons I've learned as a fighter for good government in the world of Hawaii politics.

My friends, I resolve this year to be part of the solution. And very soon, I will formally announce my candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2nd Congressional District, which includes most of Oahu, plus the Big Island, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai and Niihau.

It's a big undertaking, I know. And I plan to be one of the most serious, high energy congressional candidates in 2014 -- willing to challenge and debate any and all opponents on all the issues to secure this key position.

You really don't need me to mention all of Hawaii's problems and all of our nation's challenges. We already know how poorly our state is doing compared with the rest of the nation. We know all too well how a coalition of greedy special interest groups and smooth-talking career politicians have been looting our state. And that the overwhelming majority of residents are suffering under the weight of overtaxation, skyrocketing prices, bloated government, overregulation, and misguided social policies.

The harm to everyone is reflected daily in news headlines, government statistics, independent reports, and (most of all) in real world experiences of hardworking families struggling, homes foreclosing, poverty increasing, and employers closing their doors. The only people who don't realize how bad things are, are the very elected officials who currently represent Hawaii in our nation's capital.

You and I know that things could be so much better for everyone in Hawaii.

That's why I am really counting on your early support as I embark on this eleven month long campaign to unseat a career city and state politician who's brand new to Congress. Someone who refuses to repeal or even reform the failed policies which harm average working people every day. And I think you know her name.

The national mood of distrust in government and career politicians has come to Hawaii shores. Hawaii's elected officials obviously serve the old boy network at the expense of the rest of us. Their willingness to ignore the people makes them more vulnerable than ever. My friends, this is our time.

That's why, with your kokua, you'll soon have Marissa in Congress pursuing serious reforms, rolling back terrible Obama and Abercrombie policies, fighting to put government on your side, and most of all restoring the American dream for everyone seeking a better life.

We all know that this seat in Congress does not belong to any individual or any party. It belongs to you. That means you will be my boss. If elected, I promise to be the same Marissa you already know: committed to putting Hawaii's people first, promoting traditional values, and making Hawaii open for business.

I will work hard, using every tool available, in getting you your money's worth. And I will do everything to liberate our people from the devastation of harmful leadership.

I am a no-nonsense businessperson who believes that there is a better way forward, a better way to run our government, and a much better future for Hawaii families. I want to propel Hawaii's economic, job and income growth to keep pace with successful state economies which are doing much better than Hawaii's. To do so, I will pursue policies that foster prosperity to maximize self-reliance. I will also work to preserve traditional values so the islands will be family-friendly. And to keep government in check, I will fight to uphold our U.S. Constitution.

If there's one thing we know, it's that nothing will ever change if we keep re-electing the same politicians year after year, who want everything to stay the same by tightly embracing the status quo.

So please join me now, at this early stage, for what will surely be a fight to the finish for the future of our great state. Our campaign will move quickly, to deliver common sense solutions to all Hawaii voters this November 4th.

I'd be honored if you would join this effort. Let's work together -- because I can't do this without you.

Eleven months from now, with a new and very different voice in Congress, we'll have much to celebrate. Please help me to serve you. Let's do this, Hawaii.

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the very best in this New Year. Thanks for your support. Mahalo and mabuhay.

Sincerely yours,

Marissa Capelouto
