Three Political Parties to be Removed from Hawaii Ballot
By Andrew Walden @ 9:27 PM :: 5001 Views :: Office of Elections

by Andrew Walden

Mufi Hannemann’s Hawaii Independent Party, the Constitution Party, and The American Shopping Party are to be disqualified from the Hawaii ballot for 2018.

Announcing the move in a little-noticed legal advertisement in the February 27, 2017 Star-Advertiser, Scott Nago, Hawaii’s controversial Chief Elections Officer indicates the three parties “did not meet the requirements of HRS11-61(b)”—in essence they did not receive enough votes in 2016 nor did they have any incumbent elected officials running for reelection in 2016.

To re-qualify for ballot status, the parties will have to submit petition signatures.
