VIDEO: Rep. Djou on Fox Business News
By News Release @ 9:39 PM :: 10047 Views :: Maui County, Education K-12, Energy, Environment, National News, Ethics

Excerpts:

On Businesses Being Nervous To Spend:

“I think the biggest concern for businesses and private enterprises out there is the federal government and its mentality of ‘spend, spend, and spend some more, and if that doesn’t work, throw more money at every single problem.’ This hasn’t been working for our nation and I think businesses are legitimately concerned that the federal government right now is spending far too much money it does not have and has no plan to pay it back.”

On the Failure of Congress to Pass a Budget:

“A perfect representation of the problems we have here on Capitol Hill is the failure of Congress to pass a budget. I mean, that’s one of the most basic things any private business, any family would do to get its fiscal house in order. But here in the United States Congress we have yet to pass a budget and it’s already mid-June. This is irresponsible.”

On Runaway Government Spending:

“Whether it was Republican spending or Democrat spending, it’s too much spending. We have got to get this under control. I ran on a platform of fiscal responsibility, explaining to the American people and the voters in my district that we cannot continue this mentality of spending like no tomorrow. You don’t have to look much further than the nation of Greece and the fiscal problems going on right now in Europe to see that that could very easily happen here in the United States. If we don’t pay attention to these problems of government spending and runaway budget deficits, these problems are going to take care of us.”

National Media Takes Notice of Djou on the Economy

News Release from www.Djou.com

The national press is already picking up on Charles’ hard work for us in Congress.  Charles is working hard to follow through on his promise to turn around our economy and carefully watch the spending of your money.

Last week Charles signed on to the balanced budget amendment as his first major act as a member of Congress.  Yesterday, during a House Budget Committee hearing, Charles questioned Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on the state of the U.S. economy and Congress’ spending practices.

Dr. Bernanke testified that Congress’ wasteful spending practices and ballooning budget deficits are “unsustainable.”  Under questioning from Rep. Djou, the Fed Chair conceded that Congress has no meaningful fix ‘on the table’ for the current fiscal mess.  Charles’ questioning was covered live on both CNBC and Fox Business. You can view the clip HERE.

The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times also picked up on Charles’ questioning of the need for any further fiscal ‘stimulus.’  Chair Bernanke conceded that further government spending is not explicitly needed. The Wall Street Journal article is available HERE and the Los Angeles Times article can be found HERE.
