The plan to Overhaul Straight Hawaii

Rep Tom Brower (D-Waikiki) says Hawaii is an “intolerant place” which needs to “create a market to attract progressive, educated individuals who want to visit a society that is open to all people.”  And Brower hosted a meeting of leading gay activists at the Capitol February 22—the day before Governor Abercrombie signed Civil Unions into law--to lay out a plan to do just that.

In spite of all the talk about gay civil union ceremonies boosting the tourism industry, the activists themselves project only 569 to 1,285 gay weddings out of 114,761 total annual Hawaii marriages.  In reality civil unions are part of a strategy to “Overhaul Straight Hawaii” copied almost verbatim from the 1987 gay strategy document: “The Overhauling of Straight America.”

Hawai`i Free Press got a copy of Brower’s report on the meeting from one of our sources inside a major Honolulu news outlet.  In it, Rob Hatch of Honolulu Pride reports that “25% of gay travel is spent traveling to festivals”.  JoAnne Adams of the GLBT Caucus of the Democratic party of Hawaii claims “worldwide gay travel represents $84 billion.”  Adams has claimed that if Hawaii got 1% of this it would solve the State’s budget deficit.

As is usually the case with activists and their numbers, the source for the $84B figure is murky.  A Google search reveals $84 billion being bandied about by promoters of a Seattle gay tourism conference—but also shows numerous other gay tourism figures ranging from $17 billion on up.  A clue for the source of the figure comes from Tom Roth, President of the gay-oriented Travel Alternatives Group (TAG) whose report to the Association of Travel Marketing Executives gives a US gay travel market figure apparently based on a 10% assumption: “Based on national population figures, the American gay and lesbian community represents a US $47.3 billion travel market, or about 10% of the U.S. travel industry.”

Roth is also President of Community Marketing Inc. of San Francisco, publishers of the “15th Annual Gay and Lesbian Tourism Report”--the centerpiece of Rep Brower’s February 22 meeting.

But the 10% gay population figure—which originates from Alfred Kinsey’s widely debunked 1948 book Sexual Behavior in the Human Male—is belied by numerous more modern studies including a 2010 UK Government which reports 1.5% of the British population is gay, lesbian or bisexual.  This figure, which is in the same ballpark as many recent studies internationally, would yield a US gay travel market of only $7B—not $47.3B.  If the worldwide gay travel figure is based on the same faulty 10% assumption, the correct worldwide figure would be $12.6B, not $84B.

Nonetheless, the Progressive Democrats are intent of making the most out of their Civil Unions victory in order to continue colonizing Hawaii with more “progressive, educated individuals”.

According to the Gay and Lesbian Tourism Report, 85% of the gay visitors will be white, 75% will be male.  Only 6% have children, 2/3 of which are in lesbian households.  But the activists demand the tourism industry do their propaganda job for them by presenting a false reality.  Brower’s report cites JoAnne Adams: “Wide Shots (TV Advertisement) should show various kinds of couples, like families with gay couples.”

Rep. Brower says Grant Kimura of Paradise Festival has a different idea: “The Doritos' commercial during the Super Bowl showed gay couples.”

Doritos ran two commercials, one where one man sucks the…uh…finger of another man in order to get the cheesy flavor.  In another Doritos commercial, one man licks the pants seat of another.

Perhaps Kimura is confused about the difference between a “gay couple” and a “gay coupling”, but Tony Wagner, from the DC-based Human Rights Campaign has a much clearer understanding of the “Overhauling” media strategy.  Says Wagner, “(We) need to utilize a more subtle approach in advertising to include the gay community.   Orbitz commercial shows actor wearing HRCs logo on his shirt, a subtle advertising for gay people.”

In spite of the “equality” rhetoric, the well-documented reality is that many gay activists really aren’t the least bit interested in “a society that is open to all people.”  What they want is a society that is “open” to them.  The reality of racism among white gays is well documented.

When Governor Lingle vetoed HB444, the reaction from Queerty readers—trumpeted by “progressive” blogger Ian Lind--was “Lets put Jews up to a vote.”

After exit polls showed black California voters rejecting gay marriage in November, 2008, there was an intense racist backlash at spontaneous protest rallies in West Hollywood.  One black gay activist writes:  “It was like being at a Klan rally except the Klansmen were wearing Abercrombie polos and Birkenstocks. YOU NIGGER, one man shouted at men. If your people want to call me a FAGGOT, I will call you a nigger.”  Black LA blogger Jasmyne Cannick has published online, “A guide to help white gays see beyond themselves and their egos regarding gay marriage.”

When Queerty asked: “Can GetEQUAL NOW Make the LGBT Rights Movement Less Racist, Transphobic, and Ageist?”  The first response was, “As for the mainstream LGBT orgs, po' white trash need not apply either. They are middle class or aspiring middle class white folks. Their idea of an opening conversation is ‘where did you go to college?’ The correct answer is a private school, not a public university or college. ‘Oh you went to State U, that's nice.’"

These are the “progressive, educated individuals” Hawaii progressives are trying to recruit as colonists.

An LA Sentinel column, “Gay Racism must End,” points out: “lately, I've been reading about how your community, just as many other communities in America, allows racism to rear its ugly head unchecked.  Yes, I've heard about how the ‘N’ word is tossed about freely at gay pride parades and in gay bars, and even at demonstrations in support of gay marriage.  And, you have the nerve to demand our support of your issues?”

Gay pride parades and festivals are a big part of the Brower plan.  In his report, Don Bentz of Equality Hawaii is cited as explaining: “(We) need to establish a gay infrastructure.   Gay friendly areas are called ‘Gay ghettoes.’ We have an unofficial one in Waikiki. There is also the Castro district in San Francisco.  Anchor events like parades and festivals would help promote tourism in Hawaii by drawing people to travel here.   Anchor event in Palm Desert: ‘The White Party’ - huge concert, big name celebrities and advocates.”

The White Party, how appropriate.  As one commenter on Queerty sagely points out: “Sometimes I look at gay mags, publications and media in general and think, ‘damn, Hitler would be so so proud. The gay community is doing a great job of promoting the Aryan ideal in its choice of models and spokespeople in ways that Uncle Adolf himself could have only dreamed.’ Ironic, no?”

And if the “Progressives” have their way, these “ideal Aryans” are coming here—and they will be used to force gay marriage.

Brower cites Alan Spector saying: “We could get a lot of business from California, which has a ‘domestic partnership law’ that would honor civil unions. California does not have ceremonies for civil unions; people would be willing to come to Hawaii for that. Hawaii can create the ultimate romantic experience.  Hawaii's 1998 constitutional amendment that limits marriage to one man and one woman may make Hawaii to be perceived as an intolerant place for gay couples/travelers.

In the entire history of the human race, there has never been gay marriage until it was invented for the first time anywhere on Earth by the corrupt, Broken Trust, Hawaii Supreme Court in 1993.  The cronies took a break from looting Kamehameha Schools, invented gay marriage, and went back to looting for six more years until the IRS shut their operation down.  That’s the history of gay marriage.

And now, anyone who opposes it is “intolerant”—so sayeth the “ideal Aryans” and their ‘progressive’ front men.
