Hawaii Right to Life PAC endorses Neighborhood Board Candidates

May 3, 2011

Honolulu, HI - As Honolulu County voters begin casting their ballots in Neighborhood Board elections, Hawaii Right to Life reveals its list of endorsed candidates at hrtl.org.

Janet Grace, Executive Director of Hawaii Right to Life, states, "We believe the Neighborhood Board election is as important as any other state electoral contest because it gives voters the opportunity to choose lawmakers who are uncompromisingly committed to pursuing life-affirming policies in our local statutes. Each vote for candidates who value life will help bring the urgent change Honolulu needs to thrive and prosper."

Grace added, "The right to vote is one of the most powerful, hard-fought privileges we have, and we encourage all those eligible to exercise that right. We urge voters to support those who respect the rights of all innocent people in all life stages, from the earliest moments of development through the time life reaches its natural conclusion."

Through its "Vote for Life Hawaii" initiative, Hawaii Right to Life has vetted candidates receiving the endorsement, each of whom has pledged to support laws that protect innocent human life and oppose laws that hasten the deaths of any innocent person. Details of the pledge are posted at www.hrtl.org.

Hawaii Right to Life is a non-profit organization that advances respect for life for all people, from conception to natural death. Founded in 1973, Hawaii Right to Life is the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee.

Neighborhood Board Elections are taking place in May to fill 439 seats on 33 Neighborhood Boards. The current Board members’ terms are set to end June 30, 2011. The new board members will start their two-year terms on July 1, 2011.

The election will be conducted entirely by mail, and polling places will not be open on election day. All registered voters (as of the voter registration deadline) will automatically be mailed a packet containing the vote-by-mail ballot and return envelope. Ballots will be mailed approximately 20 days prior to the election.
