Lingle: Officer Davis Put his Life in Jeopardy to Save Others
By Gov. Linda Lingle @ 11:45 PM :: 5818 Views :: Energy, Environment

STATEMENT BY GOV. LINDA LINGLE ON LOSS OF HPD OFFICER

From www.Lingle2012.com

"Each day, law enforcement officers across our state put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of our families and communities. Last night's tragic death of Honolulu Police Officer Garret Davis is a grim reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that unfortunately comes about when we least expect it .

"Particularly painful is that the devastating loss of this fine young man and father occurred while he was trying to help stranded motorists on the H-1. It is not the first time Officer Davis has put his own life in jeopardy to save someone else, and all Hawaii residents are indebted for his brave, unselfish service.

"This should serve as a call to all of us to drive with care and aloha, be patient, and always be aware of road conditions so that these brave men and women, Hawaii's Finest, are not in any more jeopardy than necessary while performing their duties on Hawaii's roadways.

"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Davis 'ohana and his young daughter in their time of grief."
