Liz Larson Announces Hawaii State Senate Campaign

News Release June 5, 2012 from www.LizLarson2012.com

Liz Larson officially announced her candidacy for Hawaii State Senate in District 12.

District 12 includes Waikiki, Ala Moana, Ward, Kaka’ako, parts of McCully, Moliili, and Makiki.

Today Liz Larson announced that she will be a candidate for Hawaii State Senate in District 12, stating that she looks forward to running against incumbent Senator Brickwood Galuteria because “our obvious differences in policy and practice will set me apart as the best public servant for the people of my district.”

Liz Larson’s focus during the senate campaign will be on her key principles: honesty, accountability, compassion, wisdom, and empowerment. According to Liz, “These key principles will be what guide my decisions if I am elected as your state senator.”

As a business owner in Waikiki, Liz believes that she can use her common sense business knowledge to help create jobs, increase tourism, and alleviate the homeless situation in her district. After graduating with a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 2001, Liz gained valuable experience working as a senior investment analyst in the investment department of a life insurance company. In 2008, she started a vacation rental company with her husband Steve. They currently live in Waikiki with their two young sons.

The Office of Elections published the final list of candidates today. Signatures were due by 4:30 p.m. The candidates listed in Senate District 12 are Brickwood Galuteria (Democrat) and Liz Larson (Republican).

Because the Hawaii Reapportionment Commission’s redistricting plan for 2012 will affect every senate district, all 25 Hawaii state senators will be required to run for re-election. All 51 house representatives will also run for re-election, making 76 elections in all. A complete list of candidates running in the 2012 elections can be seen at the Office of Elections Candidate Report.
