2012 Primary Voter Guide NOW AVAILABLE!
News Release from Hawaii Family Forum
As we move closer to the Primary Election (August 11, 2012), we want to encourage you to do three things:
1. Make sure you, and every member of your family who is of voting age, is registered to vote in Hawaii. If you are NOT currently registered to vote in the State of Hawaii, please do so. Please send us an email if you would like to help your church conduct voter registration. We can give you the tools to help you coordinate one.
NOTE: Although we have passed the deadline to register to vote in the Primary Election (the deadline was July 12, 2012), you can still register to vote in the General Election on November 6, 2012. The deadline to register for the General Election is October 8, 2012.
2. Educate yourselves on what each candidate stands for. Remember that your vote is perpetual in the sense that you vote once for the candidate, and then - should they get elected - they vote for you. Every time a representative or senator votes to support an issue (or against one), they are representing YOU! Our voter guide is meant to assist you in making your decision on Election Day. If the candidate did not respond to the survey, we strongly encourage you to call them and ask them how they would vote on issues of importance. You have a right, and responsibility, to know how they stand on the issues that you care about. Churches are free to duplicate this guide for distribution; however, you must let us know that you are doing so and then tell us how many copies you are distributing.
3. Our reponsibility doesn't stop with REGISTRATION, and EDUCATION. We must make the decision to go the polls and cast our vote on election day. (August 11, 2012). Hawaii is one of the lowest in the nation in voter registration and participation.
