Career Criminal cuts plea deal
A Hilo man accused of repeatedly shooting a woman with a sawed-off shotgun and leaving her to die in a rural Ka'u forest has cut a plea deal....
Bohol's cousins and co-defendants, Jody Lassen of Hilo and Danolin Souza of Orchidland, pleaded guilty in February to reduced charges of attempted manslaughter. The women, who are sisters, agreed to testify against Bohol to avoid prison. Both are expected to receive probation when they are sentenced Jan. 9, 2009.
According to police testimony in a preliminary hearing, Bohol, Lassen and Souza beat Dias-Nicholson, and forced her into the trunk of a car. They then drove her to a remote area of Waiohinu, tethered her to a tree with duct tape to her wrists and ankles, then shot her several times with a sawed-off shotgun. The three left Dias-Nicholson for dead....
Bohol has 34 prior convictions on both misdemeanor and felony charges, including kidnapping, assault, terroristic threatening, burglary, violating probation, abuse of a family member, violating a protective order, harassment, disorderly conduct, criminal property damage, contempt of court, driving without a license and driving without insurance.
