Taxed Enough Already? Maui protest vs. property tax hikes April 29

The Maui County council is considering an increase to property tax rates.  They are considering taking away 1/3rd of the home owners’ exemption from 300K down to 200K.  They need to stop killing our chance to Pursue the American Dream.

Maui County Council has issued a Notice of Public Hearing on Thursday, April 29th, 2010 at 6:30 PM on the 8th floor of the Kalana O Maui Building at 200 South High Street, Wailuku, HI 96793.  They plan to hear testimony regarding  proposed property tax increases.  Even if you don’t own property on Maui it will still affect every one of us. This is our chance to take action.

As a small business owner, I plan to tell the County Council how this will further harm business, and in turn defeat the purpose of raising taxes.  Small business income will drop even more, creating less revenue for the State and County.  This is a negative vicious cycle.

Details on public hearing:

  • Thursday April 29th 2010
  • 6:30 PM
  • 8th floor of the Kalana O Maui Building
