Rep Ward, Sen Slom invite public to speak out on pension tax, other issues

"WARD SPONSORS LEGISLATIVE TOWNHALL MEETING" 

Representative Gene Ward (R-Hawaii Kai – Kalama Valley) today announced that his office is sponsoring a townhall meeting on the 2011 Legislature.  The meeting is jointly sponsored with Senator Sam Slom (R-Hawaii Kai – Diamond Head).

Residents will have the opportunity to share their views on proposed pension tax increases, gambling legislation, civil unions, and other topics of concern to the community.  An update on the Kamilonui Valley farmers' efforts to preserve their lifestyle will also be provided.

"This townhall is an opportunity for residents to speak directly with their elected officials and learn about the issues being considered in the 2011 Legislature," Rep. Gene Ward said.

Members of the community will also receive an update on the possible closure of Hawaii Kai elementary schools.

"We plan to have a lively debate on the issues affecting our community," Rep. Ward added. “I encourage you to bring your family, meet old neighbors, and make new friends.”
