Ward: Fire Employees who do not Cooperate with Missile Alert Investigation
By Rep Gene Ward @ 9:33 PM :: 6016 Views :: Ethics, Labor, Military

WARD INTRODUCES RESOLUTION URGING THE GOVERNOR AND HI-EMA TO DISMISS ANY EMPLOYEES NOT COOPERATING WITH THE INVESTIGATION OF THE JANUARY 13, 2018 FALSE MISSILE ALERT

“This is not about an individual, this is about our national security."

News Release from Office of Representative Gene Ward, January 26, 2018

Representative Gene Ward (R-Hawaii Kai)  introduced a resolution urging Governor Ige and Adjutant General Logan to dismiss any employee who fails to comply with investigations regarding the January 13th false missile alert.

The resolution calls for putting national security first while being sympathetic but firm in the Legislature's resolve to get to the bottom of the January 13th Missile Alert Mistake.  The resolution filed by Ward's office and signed by other lawmakers calls on “all individuals with information on the January 13th false missile alert to cooperate fully with all investigations of the incident” and urges Governor Ige and General Miyagi to “dismiss any employee who fails to cooperate with an investigation of the January 13th false missile alert."

“We as legislators must continue to put pressure on the Ige Administration to ensure that the people of Hawaii, the FCC, and the people of this nation get the answers they deserve,” Ward said. “We cannot let this issue be ignored as it was in the Governor's State of the State Address, or swept under the Legislature's rug - and we certainly cannot let this employee get away with a ‘slap on the wrist’ if in fact he is the only person involved in what continues to be a mystery about what actually occurred on January 13th between 8:07am and 8:45 am.

Rep. Ward has previously called on Governor Ige to arrange for legislators to have a 'forensic tour' of the 38-minute delay at the HI-EMA facility, to answer questions he was not allowed to ask during the legislative hearing, and to release of the security tapes from the morning of January 13th.

"Investigations are all about questions, and the Governor's office has been short on providing answers,” Ward concluded.
