DJOU STATEMENT ON SELECTION OF EIS CONTRACTOR FOR BIG WIND PROJECT

Washington, DC Congressman Charles Djou (HI-01) issued the following statement today reacting to the selection of AECOM as the EIS contractor for the Big Wind Project:

“The future of American energy will lie in developing alternative sources of energy. I am proud that Hawai‘i is leading the way. Nothing short of an ‘all-of-the-above’ strategy will be enough to remedy our national energy woes; we need more domestic energy production, and we also need to develop renewable sources of energy like wind and solar energy if we are to chart a course to energy independence.”

While on the Honolulu City Council, Congressman Djou led the fight to bring curbside recycling to the city and was a strong advocate for responsible environmental stewardship.

Since coming to Congress, Djou has signed on to the American Energy Act, an “all-of-the-above” energy solution that puts the United States on the path to energy independence. The American Energy Act would increase production of American-made energy in an environmentally-sound manner; promote new, clean and renewable sources of energy such as nuclear, clean coal technology, wind and solar energy; encourage greater efficiency and conservation by extending tax incentives for energy efficiency and rewarding development of greater conservation techniques and new energy sources; and cut red-tape and reduce frivolous litigation.
