FIRST HAWAIIAN ANNOUNCES THE JAPAN-HAWAII RELIEF FUND; CONTRIBUTES THE FIRST $100,000 TO THE FUND

(Honolulu, Hawaii March 11, 2011) -- First Hawaiian Bank announced the establishment of the Japan-Hawaii Relief Fund to assist the survivors of the devastating earthquake and tsunami of March 11th. First Hawaiian Bank has donated $100,000 to the Fund. All contributions to the Fund will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society, according to an announcement made today by Don Horner, First Hawaiian Bank chairman and chief executive officer.

Those interested in making a contribution to the Japan-Hawaii Relief Fund may do so at any First Hawaiian Bank branch through March 31, 2011.

"Hawaii has strong ties and friendships with the people of Japan. Our hearts and prayers go out to the survivors of this tragic disaster," Horner said. "One hundred percent of these donations will go directly to the Japanese Red Cross to support the victims and their families."

The Japanese Red Cross Society was founded in 1877 and has an extensive network of branches in cities, towns and villages throughout Japan. They also operate hospitals and blood collection agencies through the country. Her Majesty the Empress serves as Honorary President of the Society.

First Hawaiian Bank is Hawaii's oldest and largest bank with over $15 billion in total assets and 63 branches throughout Hawaii, Guam and CNMI.
