36 Current and Former Hawaii Police Officers Call for ‘Military Government’
MN: … Attorney General Anne Lopez has received a 10-page letter, with attachments, from Edward Halealoha Ayau who is the attorney representing Maui Police Detective Kamuela Lanakila Mawae. That letter addresses legal concerns regarding the status of Hawaiʻi as an occupied State and potential war crimes being committed by law enforcement officers, according to a news release from Ayau.
(CLUE: Sovereignty flows from the will of the people. The people’s will is statehood.)
In 2022, Mawae and Patrolman Scott McCalister requested legal services regarding Hawaiʻi’s political status. They sought assurance that enforcing US laws does not violate international law. On behalf of Mawae and McCalister, Chief John Pelletier formally requested legal services from Maui’s Corporation Counsel. Ayau called the response “evasive” and said “did not address what was asked.”
(CLUE: The sovereignty movement is trying to connive at the public to switch their allegiance. We don’t want to be ruled by sovereignty activists or anybody like them.)
In 2024, a letter from Mawae and 36 other retired and active police officers urged Major General Kenneth Hara to establish a military government in Hawaiʻi. They expressed concern over the lack of transition to military governance, which could implicate officers in unlawful actions….
PDF: Letter is actually signed by Alika Desha of Royal Order of Kamehameha -- did the others really agree to it?
(CLUE: All overthrows are illegal in the eyes of the overthrown regime. ‘International Law’ is just an excuse for sovereignty activists to raise money to pay for vacations to NYC and Europe so they can take selfies at the UN and The Hague in order to raise more money.)
In that letter they stated, “It is deeply troubling that the State of Hawaiʻi has not been transitioned into a military government as mandated by international law. This failure of transition places current police officers on duty that they may be held accountable for unlawfully enforcing American laws. This very issue was brought to the attention of the Maui County Corporation Counsel by Maui Police Chief John Pelletier in 2022.”
(REALLY OBVIOUS QUESTION: Can these 36 current and former officers be trusted to do their job according to law? I bet Pelletier wants to know.)
Ayau’s letter referred to former Sen. Cross Makani Crabbe’s request to the Attorney General dated Sept. 19, 2024, for a legal opinion on Hawaiʻi’s status, emphasizing the need for clarity on its legality. Crabbe made the request because of his concern that he and other members of the Legislature were committing war crimes by enacting American laws. Crabbe stated in his request, “As a senator that represents the 22nd district, I am very concerned by these allegations that the State of Hawaiʻi, as a governing body, is not legal because the Hawaiian Kingdom continues to exist as an occupied State under international law.” The Attorney General has not responded.…
(CLUE: Crabbe was appointed for three months by Green because he was the candidate least likely to thumb the scale of the Democratic Primary. This is what he did during those three months.)

BJ Penn Legal, Mental Issues Growing
ASD: … Penn has had legal struggles dating back to the time he was still with the UFC. In 2015, he was arrested in Kihei after fighting another man outside of a bar. In 2019, his former partner Shealen Uaiwa filed a restraining order against him. That same year, he also fought a bouncer outside of a Honolulu strip club and was involved in a bar brawl in Pāhoa. In 2021, he was changed with a DUI in Honoka‘a.
Penn's most recent legal troubles saw him get arrested three times in the span of six days in May. He claimed on his personal Instagram account that family members of his had been killed and replaced by imposters. Penn was arrested on May 25 and 26 on charges that stemmed from abuse of a household or family member. Penn's mother, Lorraine Shin, filed a temporary restraining order against him. Penn was arrested again on May 31 after failing to appear in court.
State court records show that a Hilo family court judge extended a protective order against Penn until Nov. 23. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 24. Penn was also sued — successfully — by Kealii Bertelmann in a civil case over accusations Penn made that Bertelmann had stolen from Lahaina fire victims, impersonated Hawai‘i Gov. Josh Green, and more, according to online records and media accounts….

Moszkowicz rescinded resignation when he learned it’s the responsibility of the Honolulu Police Commission and not the mayor to select interim chief
BIN: After a five-month nationwide search, Moszkowiz was selected out of a pool of 44 applicants to replace Paul Ferreira, who retired in September 2022 as chief of the Hawaiʻi Island Department.
Hawai‘i County Police Commission Chair Rick Robinson said he knew that Moszkowicz received a call from the Honolulu mayor about filling in as interim chief. He received Moszkowicz’s resignation letter earlier this month. However, the chief rescinded the letter when he learned it’s the responsibility of the Honolulu Police Commission and not the mayor to select an interim chief.
“It took us a long time to get Chief Ben,” Robinson said. “He’s a great chief. He’s helped increase recruit classes. He works hard.”
Robinson said the Hawai‘i County Police Commission will discuss Moszkowicz’s letter of resignation and the rescinding of that letter at its June 20 meeting.
Hawai‘i County Mayor Kimo Alameda said he got a call from Blangiardi after Logan’s retirement announcement letting him know he was going to recommend Moszkowicz to the Honolulu Police Commission as interim chief….
Alameda had nothing but good things to say about Moszkowicz on Friday, stating they work well together and believes that Moszkowicz articulates the needs of his department well.
However, Alameda said he worries about the morale within Hawai‘i Island police with the news of Moszkowicz submitting a letter of resignation to the commission, only to rescind it.
“The community needs to feel their chief is with them,” Alameda said….
The Honolulu police commission’s process to select an interim and permanent police chief will be discussed during its next meeting on Wednesday….

Maui: Meth-addled firebugs continue to accumulate on Holomua Road
MN: … The decision to restrict access to Holomua Road, a roughly 3-mile stretch connecting Hāna Highway and Baldwin Avenue, continues to be a contentious issue. Council members and some North Shore residents worry about regular fires along the road spreading to nearby towns, while advocates say the move would displace the houseless community there without solving the fire risk.
In June 2024, after nearly 40 fires burned along the road in just a few months, council members quickly passed the bill that would close the mauka portion of Holomua Road above the entrance to old Maui High School, and prohibit parking and vehicle access on the lower portion of the road from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
But a year later, nothing has been done to restrict road access and address the public safety issue that council members cited in the wake of the destructive August 2023 wildfires in Lahaina and Upcountry.
“If we do not learn our lesson after Lahaina, we are negligent as a county, and I refuse to be negligent,” Council Member Nohe U‘u-Hodgins, who proposed the bill and lives in the district that covers Makawao, Ha‘ikū and Pāʻia, said at the time. …

Tokuda Soft on Fentanyl
ASD: … The Halt All Lethal Trafficking of Fentanyl Act (or, the HALT Fentanyl Act) lists fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances onto Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, carrying the highest possible regulations and penalties.
This would put fentanyl in the company of other drugs like heroin, LSD, MDMA and mescaline. Schedule I drugs are considered to have no medical use and have a high potential for addiction.
Despite being legal in many states — though not Hawai‘i — marijuana is also listed as a Schedule I drug by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Currently, fentanyl is listed as a Schedule II drug, which is for substances that have some degree of medical use, albeit high risk for abuse. Fentanyl can be prescribed to treat pain, often in cancer patients or following surgeries.
Other drugs on Schedule II include methamphetamine and morphine.
While House Republicans were united in their support of the HALT Fentanyl Act, House Democrats were as divided as they could be: 104 Democrats voted in favor of the bill, and 103 voted against.
Hawai‘i reps Ed Case and Jill Tokuda were on opposite sides of that split, with Case in favor and Tokuda in opposition…
