VIDEO: Punatics try to obstruct drug raid with bogus immigration claims
BIN: … The Hawai‘i Police Department said claims circulating on social media that federal immigration enforcement agents are operating with their own officers in lower Puna are not true.
“This ongoing investigation has nothing to do with ICE or illegal immigration,” the department said in a statement issued Saturday via social media.
The statement was in response to a video posted on Instagram that showed a warrant being executed at the Kalapana General Store by U.S. Marshals and local police officers.
The Hawaiʻi Police Department Vice Section and the Crime Reduction Unit were “conducting a fugitive apprehension investigation regarding illegal narcotics and firearms in the Kalapana area,” the statement said….
The incident on the video occurred on Friday at about 1:30 p.m. at the Kalapana General Store.
(CLUE: Shrooms.)
Lephos Zero, owner of the store, said the United States Marshals Service abruptly “came in hot and out of control, pointing guns at people.”
(QUESTION: Where do they get these names?)
“It sounded like we were getting robbed,” he said.
In the video, a heavy-set U.S. Marshal can be seen with a shield, and his weapon pointed at the ground.
(IDEA: US Marshals should all be skinny soy boys.)
“We don’t feeeeeel safe,” an employee can be heard saying in the video, while several other officers combed the store.
(IQ Test: How hard are you laughing?)
Outside the general store, there were three unmarked cars with more than a dozen officers from the Hawai’i Police Department’s Vice Section and the Crime Reduction Unit, along with the U.S. Marshals. A suspect was apprehended and sitting on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back….

Because we closed the Insane Asylums, Lunatics Crowd our Jails
CB: … Severely mentally ill prisoners in Hawaiʻi are being cared for in dismal understaffed facilities and receive inadequate treatment, according to a pair of outside experts who inspected two jails under a class-action lawsuit settlement.
The psychiatrists’ grim report on mental health services in Oʻahu Community Correctional Center and Hālawa Correctional Facility — completed earlier this summer but never before made public — identified inmates who were so severely ill they clearly should have been moved to Hawaiʻi State Hospital for treatment.
The inspectors also flagged overuse of pepper spray to control inmates as a problem in an OCCC module for mentally ill prisoners, and reported staff at Hālawa deliberately made inmates on suicide watch endure harsh conditions as a strategy to discourage malingering….
Johnson has been pushing for years for construction of a new jail at Hālawa, but has encountered resistance from critics who say the state should first invest in more community-based mental health and drug treatment programs so people can be diverted from incarceration.
(REALITY: The resistance is based on a desire to create a crisis, thus bringing about another federal consent decree and forcing the mass-release of criminals.)
Some of the issues raised in the report are familiar in a haunting way.
Conditions for mentally ill inmates at OCCC became so bad nearly two decades ago the state was placed under a federal court consent degree that forced it to improve services. But those improvements proved to be temporary.
When asked if the state could again become subject to court oversight, Johnson replied: “I think we’re at the point where we need to be concerned about not addressing the overcrowding issue, not addressing the living condition issues, hence we’re trying to get a new OCCC,” Johnson said.
(And that’s why ACLU is against the new jail.)
“But more to the point,” he added, “we also need to make sure we provide focused services and treatment to the people in our custody and care, and the report does point out some very glaring deficiencies.”…

DoE COVID Shutdown Knocks Down Girls’ Math, Science Test Scores—Boys Steady
CB: … Before the pandemic, girls in Hawaiʻi were bucking longstanding national trends and leading the way in math. In 2018, 43% of Hawaiʻi girls achieved proficiency in math on state standardized tests taken by students in grades three through eight and eleven — a few percentage points higher than their male peers. But the trend flipped after the pandemic, with more boys than girls scoring as proficient on the state math tests starting in 2020.
In the 2023-24 school year, 41% of boys were proficient in math, compared to 39% of girls. The two genders were more closely matched in their science scores, with roughly 40% of boys and girls reaching the proficient level on state standardized tests….
