“A Steersman for Hawaii!”

Former Hawaii State Representative announces U.S. Senate Run

News Release from Cavasso for Senate April 17, 2014

HONOLULU,— Cam Cavasso, a life long canoe paddler, said, “I am running for US Senate and ask for the privilege of becoming a steersman for Hawaii and the Nation. Cam, announced his run for the US Senate to finish out the term of the late Senator Inouye on the lawn of the State Capitol surrounded by supporters and family along with an Outrigger canoe on a trailer as backdrop.

Cavasso is a former three term state representative, business man, farmer, and financial advisor. Cam, a veteran, served as a US Army Captain.

Cavasso said he would steer Hawaii in a better, more prosperous direction. “Family, Ohana, is the foundation of our State and Nation. I would steer us back to the direction and the place of elevating the family to a place of leadership and influence and support that it should be in our community,” stated Cavasso.

Cavasso expressed optimism for Hawaii’s future, stating he wants to help Hawaiians prosper and and become autonomous . “I would steer us toward freedom. I would steer us toward a State that sets its own course and blesses the nations and the Nation, said Cavasso.  He went on to tell how he wants to enhance the shipping, tourism, and medical industries in Hawaii. He would remove federal governments restrictions on shipping to Hawaii currently hindering our Islands’ economy. He will fight for Hawaii “to grow as an independent State; one that is not totally dependent on our our federal government, but grows it’s own economy…if [Hawaiians] work together, we can make this State a center of commerce, trade, shipping, and business. We can restore and build and economy to help all our Hawaii people prosper; a rising tide lifts all boats.”

Cavasso served three consecutive terms in the Hawaii State Legislature from 1984 – 1990. For almost 30 years, he has worked as a financial advisor with Mass Mutual Financial Group, and also owns a small farm in Waimanalo. Cam Cavasso’s Hawaii family roots trace back to the 1800’s when his great grandfather served as the photographer to the royalty in the Hawaiian Kingdom. He resides with his wife Tula, sons, daughters, and grandchildren in Windward Oahu.
