Djou: 86 Days to Create a Better Future

Mahalo - On to the General Election

Aloha,    August 10, 2014

Last night, we won our primary with 96% of the vote. Mahalo to each and every one of you for all of your hard work and support.  It means a great deal to me and to my family to have you in our corner.

Now comes the hard work.  Last night voters gave a stern rebuke to politics as usual in Hawaii, but the work is far from complete.

After nearly 60 years of one-party rule in Hawaii, today, we have the highest cost of living in the nation, most families have to work two jobs to make ends meet, and homelessness is spiraling out of control.

We can lower our crushing cost of living, create better jobs, reduce homelessness, and ensure that our children receive a world class education. I have a plan to make life better for the people of Hawaii on Day One and have the experience and relationships to make it happen.

However, the political machine that has kept the same political party in power for decades won’t let go of its influence very easily.  To accomplish our goals, I can’t do it alone.  I need every single one of you to get involved in some way.  My team will be contacting you in the next few days.  Please consider donating your time or resources. This election is too important for any of us to sit on the sidelines.

We have 86 short days until the General Election.  86 days to create a better future for Hawaii.  A future where our children’s potential is measured by the size of their dreams, not by the debt and uncertainty we leave them -- a future where our economy is thriving, young people can afford to buy a home and our families don’t face the constant worry of whether they can afford groceries and gasoline.

I believe to my core that a better future for Hawaii and America is within reach.  Please join me as we fight for the future we deserve.
