HD36: Fukumoto Margin Larger than Ever
By Rep Beth Fukumoto @ 12:01 AM :: 4533 Views :: Republican Party

Message to Supporters November 13, 2016

Thank you so much for your support this election! Thanks to you, we won by a bigger margin than ever before despite last minute negative mailers and the Star-Advertiser's decision to endorse my opponent.

Here are a few encouraging statistics:

In the 2012 Presidential Election, my campaign received 51.2% of the vote. In 2016, with the same opponent and turnout, we received 65.7% of the vote.

With 65.7% of the vote, our campaign received a higher percentage of the vote than Clinton (56.8%), Hanabusa (65.2%) and Caldwell (51.7%). Schatz received 68.0% of the vote.

Despite low turnout and registration statewide, this district turned out over 10,000 voters. One of the top 5 House District turnouts.

Thank you again for all of your support. Because of your help, we had a very strong showing this election. Of course, we've got even more work ahead with the legislative session starting shortly. If you've got any suggestions for legislation or issues that you think we should be discussing, please reach out to me at

News Release from Office of Rep Beth Fukumoto Chang, Nov 15, 2016

(Honolulu) For the past four years, House Minority Leader, Representative Beth Fukumoto Chang has garnered attention for efforts to find common ground between Republicans and Democrats for the benefit of the people of Hawai’i.

Now, Fukumoto Chang, a millennial female minority and the highest ranked Republican in Hawaii, seeks to address the changing nature of the political landscape for Republicans and discuss what it means to govern in Hawai’i and the larger United States.

“Republicans in Hawai’i have existed as a super-minority for so long—we now have the unique opportunity to offer examples to others who find themselves outnumbered nationally. Governing is ultimately about pragmatism and uncovering points of agreement where it seems like none exist.”

This week, Fukumoto Chang, heads to D.C. to take part in policy conferences and collaborate with other national leaders about how to keep the people of Hawai’i relevant in this political climate.

Representative Fukumoto Chang is available for comment prior to her afternoon departure on Wednesday, November 16.
