Conference Committee to Hear SB501: Mandatory Abortion Promotion

The "Bully Bill" Scheduled for Conference Committee

From Hawaii Family Forum, April 20, 2017

The watered down version of SB501 (Relating to Health) has been scheduled for a hearing in the conference committee tomorrow (04-21-17) at 1:00PM in conference room 016.  It is the fourth item on the agenda.  Because the current version has removed the word "abortion," some members believe that it will survive a constitutional challenge.  Local Alliance Defending Freedom attorney, Jim Hochberg, disagrees.  Compelled speech is compelled speech - no matter how they reword it.

The House Members assigned to the committee are:

Rep. Della Belatti - Co-Chair
586-9425

Rep. Scott Nishimoto - Co-Chair
586-8515

Rep. Bert Kobayashi
586-6310

Rep. Cynthia Thielen
586-6480

The Senate Members assigned to the committee are:

Sen. Rosalyn Baker - Chair
586-6070

Sen. Gil Keith-Agaran - Co-Chair
586-7344

Sen. Jill Tokuda - Co-Chair
587-7215

Sen. Michelle Kidani
586-7100

Sen. Karl Rhoads
586-6130

Although no oral or written testimony is allowed for the hearing, you can call these members and ask them to vote NO ON SB 501!  Keep in mind that if you are not a constituent, they may not take your information.  If you do live in their district, then definitely make that call!

We will continue to keep you posted on the progress of the bill.

Mahalo for all your prayers and support of our faith-based pregnancy resource centers.
