Moving the Smokestack: How Clean is Your Electric Vehicle?

From Union of Concerned Scientists

Electric cars tend to produce less carbon pollution than gas-powered ones—but just how much less? Enter your ZIP code below to see how different types of vehicles stack up in your area. Entering a make, model, and year will narrow results to a specific EV model.

Sample Hawaii Results for 96822 Manoa (where else, lol).

Note: We also tried 96720 Hilo and the answers were 3 to 18 mpg cleaner obviously due to the geothermal plant’s CO2-free generation system which Punatic enviros have fought for decades.

We would also like to point out that the 2016 Porsche Cayenne S e-Hybrid is only 2mpg better than the vehicular embodiment of excess--the 2010 Hummer H3.  This cannot be emphasized enough.

Reason?  Two of the largest ‘clean’ energy plants on Oahu are …uh… diesel.  Yeah.  That’s right.  Diesel.  This is what we (and Michael Moore) mean by ‘Moving The Smokestack.’ See: LINK.
