Army Conducts Review of Facility Use by Political Entities

By U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii Public Affairs July 18, 2022

WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD, HAWAII — On July 18, 2022, U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii was made aware today of a potentially unauthorized political event held at The Beach House by 604 at Pililaau Army Recreation Center June 30.

The Army thanks the individual and larger community for bringing this to our attention.

U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii was not aware of the political candidate dinner scheduled at The Beach House by 604. U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii and The Beach House by 604 management are conducting an internal review to discover how this occurred and to prevent future events of this nature occurring on Army property.

U.S. Army Hawaii Regulation 1, paragraph 2-21, prohibits individuals from congregating, making political speeches or holding political events of any kind, on any U.S. Army Hawaii installation. The Department of Defense prohibits political fundraising on military installations. U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii enforces this across the board, equally for all parties.
