Media outlets have been trying--without success--to reach Lahaina Rep Elle Cochran for comment on the multiple calls for her resignation after it was revealed she has missed 85% of the 2025 Legislative session.
We found her.
Cochran may not have time to show up for work and she may not have time to respond to local media inquiries, but on May 27, 2025, she had a solid hour for ‘Lahaina Update: News and Views and Conspiracies’ on Michele Melendez’ ‘Tin Foil Hat Tuesday’ YouTube program hosted by ScrewBigGovernment.com.
Melendez' StandTogetherHawaii website promotes the ‘Lahaina Laser Beam Weapons’ conspiracy theory with “More Evidence Maui Was ATTACKED!”
Cochran--a Democrat--wants Elon Musk and Donald Trump to investigate Hawaii. (This was recorded before Musk quit the Trump administration.)
Here she is at the 43:00 mark:
“When do outside forces get involved? I think it’s coming up. Outside of the state people? I’ve been trying to -- there’s actually a whistleblower who actually sent his letter to DOGE. It needs to get that far. I’ve been trying to put it out there … DOGE and the Trump Administration … they need to have all eyes here in Hawaii.
“It is definitely one of the most corrupt states. I can’t speak for others. I know first hand our state. Just the sheer incestuous corruption that happens here. Everybody is tied to everybody. And if nobody learns from the whole Milton Choy issue that happened here in Maui County which also had tentacles and ties into the state legislature …
“We can’t fix the system, the corrupt stuff happening within. We’re stuck in that fishbowl we’re trying to chase ourselves around and around. We gotta go up outside of it and bring eyes and ears and forces from outside to come in. Because we’re never ever gonna solve this or change things from within at all.”
