OʻAHU GRAND JURY INDICTS ROBERT CHAPMAN FOR FELONY FORGERY, IDENTITY THEFT AND THEFT OF $750,000

HONOLULU — The Oʻahu Grand Jury has indicted Robert Chapman on 22 felony counts including, Identity Theft in the First Degree, Forgery in the First Degree, Theft in the First Degree and Unauthorized Possession of Confidential Personal Information. The indictment is dated June 20, 2025.
Chapman is alleged to have engaged in a years-long scheme of forgery, fraud and theft, in which he utilized a forged will to deprive three charities of approximately $250,000 each.
The case, State v. Robert Chapman, 1CPC-25-0000730, is being prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Michael Minkin with the department’s Criminal Justice Division. The Department of the Attorney General’s Investigation Division and the Department of Law Enforcement worked together to conduct the investigation.
The Department of the Attorney General is committed to prosecuting those who engage in deception and financial exploitation of Hawaiʻi’s most vulnerable residents and holding offenders accountable under the law.
The charges against Mr. Chapman include Class A, Class B, and Class C felonies.
Class A felonies are punishable by up to 20 years of imprisonment.
