Grassroot announces legislative wrap-up tour
News Release from Grassroot Institute
The 2026 Hawai‘i Legislature is in its final days, so it’s time to look forward to the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii’s legislative wrap-up seminars during which staff will break down the highs and lows of this year’s legislative session.
The featured panelists at the mid-June luncheons will be Grassroot Director of Strategic Campaigns Ted Kefalas and Grassroot Executive Vice President Joe Kent. Grassroot President Keli‘i Akina will moderate.
Together, they will discuss how lawmakers handled a litany of proposed tax hikes, state budget pressures and efforts to roll back regulations on housing, agriculture and healthcare. There will also be time for audience members to ask questions.
>> The first seminar will take place in Kona on Friday, June 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Umekes Private Event Space. The $20 admission includes lunch and parking.
>> Next, the Honolulu event will be Wednesday, June 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a private club downtown. The $30 admission includes lunch and parking.
>> Finally, join us in Kahului on Thursday, June 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The $20 admission includes lunch and parking.

You’re invited to Grassroot’s 25th anniversary gala
The Grassroot Institute is hosting its 25th anniversary gala on Friday, Sept. 4, at the Sheraton Waikiki, and tickets can be purchased by anyone who would like to attend.
The dazzling event will feature a keynote address by comedian, podcast host and New York Times bestselling author Adam Carolla, who was displaced by the 2025 Palisades fire in California and has used his platform to highlight the bureaucratic obstacles holding back homeowners trying to rebuild — concerns that echo issues we have raised here in Hawaii.
Come celebrate with us as we look to the next 25 years.
