Lorraine Inouye Drops Election Challenge
News Release from Lorraine Inouye Campaign
Candidate for the state Senate District 4, Democrat Lorraine Rodero Inouye, has announced that after carefully reviewing election reports and records at the state election headquarters in Pearl City that she does not have a cause to file a protest over the primary election results and concedes the Democratic primary to Sen. Malama Solomon.
“I tried to reach Senator Malama Solomon this afternoon to offer her my congratulations on her win. She has been very gracious in refraining from talking to the media while I addressed my concerns over the electoral process for this primary election. I offer my support for her candidacy in the General Election.”
“Under normal circumstances I would have conceded the Senate District 4 race to Sen. Malama Solomon on Primary Election night, however due to the closeness of my race, and the numerous problems reported regarding the conduct of the election on this island by the Hawaii County clerk, I wanted to first conduct fact-finding. I thank the State elections chief Scott Nago and his state elections staff for making records available for my review today,” Inouye said. “This matter would have been resolved last week if the county elections office and County Clerk Jamae Kawauchi had made those same records available to me last week.”
Inouye thanks her supporters and state election officials on Oahu. |
