DJOU PARTICIPATES IN KAMEHAMEHA DAY LEI CEREMONY IN WASHINGTON, DC

Washington, DC Last weekend, Congressman Charles Djou (HI-01) attended the Annual Lei Draping Ceremony in the U.S. Capitol Visitor’s Center in recognition of Kamehameha Day.

“It was a distinct honor and privilege for me and my family to be able to participate in this ceremony to celebrate the legacy of King Kamehameha and the history of Hawai‘i,” Djou said.

The lei draping ceremony occurs on an annual basis and features elected officials, hula hālaus, and Hawaiian civic groups from across the nation. “Whenever there is an opportunity to recognize and highlight the unique heritage of Hawai‘i, I will always be there,” Djou said.

Congressman Djou delivered remarks at the ceremony, expressing gratitude in the trust that voters in Hawai’i have placed in him and promising to prove that he deserves his seat in Congress. “I was, and am, extraordinarily humbled by the opportunity I’ve been given to serve the people of Hawai‘i. I have already begun, and will continue to do all that I can to represent the people of Hawai‘i effectively, responsibly and with integrity,” Djou concluded.
