Rep. Hirono states that the Jones Act has created 10,000 maritime jobs in Hawaii, and the Hawaii maritime industry generates an annual turnover of more than $4.7 billion and provides wages of $1.1 billion. These are extravagant numbers ... 

Cayetano does not dispute that the contributions were accepted, nor does he dispute that most of the fines levied by the Campaign Spending Commission went unpaid....

Listed on the right column of his site are links to other websites described as “Senator Gary Hooser’s Regular Reading Regime.” The 25 links include the Kailua, O`ahu-based anti-Semitic 9-11 conspiracy website www.WhatReallyHappened.com (WRH).

At WRH “Regular Readers” like Hooser may peruse an article from a Holocaust denier publication asserting: “(only) two to three hundred thousand Jews perished in Nazi concentration camps, but none in gas chambers.” Another WRH article touts a 1928 communist scheme to send Russian Jews to Siberia. There are literally hundreds of such articles interspersed between a selection of articles about Jewish child molesters, Jewish swindlers, and any other—mostly Jewish or “Israeli”--wrongdoing.

HONOLULU - Governor Neil Abercrombie today announced two appointments to the State Senate:  Rep. Maile Shimabukuro to represent Senate District 21, and Malama Solomon, Ph.D., to represent Senate District 1.

At his March 5 sentencing in the Honolulu Federal District Courtroom of Judge Michael Seabright, convicted methamphetamines importer Shawn Aguiar was greeted by over 100 supporters, including failed 2006 Democrat Lieutenant Governor candidate Malama Solomon.  While methamphetamines ravage the Big Island, Solomon urged the judge to minimize Aguiar’s sentence because his imprisonment might reduce the profitability of Solomon’s 1000-acre Honoka`a cattle ranch. 

When I arrived, Dudley was just leaving and Espero told me what happened. As I was picking up and replacing my signs as well as Ms. Martinez's signs...Dudley drove by pointing and laughing like a mad man as he drove back up towards his home in Makakilo. It was really disconcerting.... It seems that Dudely also cursed out Espero's elderly grandfather while they were sign waiving near one another too.

With the defeat of Rep Bertram, convicted child molester Leon Rouse has become a demonstrated electoral liability to his employers.  Will he still be rehired by Baker or Cabanilla for 2011?  It is likely this question which has caused Rouse to pop up and try to spread his self-serving justifications and denials in the pages of the Maui News.

Washington, DC — Congressman Charles K. Djou (HI-01) issued the following statement reacting to the news that the United States and the Republic of Korea have reached a deal on the languishing free trade agreement. Congressman Djou has been a leading voice in the U.S. House, advocating for this agreement from the first day he was in office.

The attached letter is a "voter challenge" that was filed with the City Clerk of the City and County of Honolulu Nov. 24, 2010 at 11:57 AM. It suggests that Mr. Michael Keoni Dudley has falsified voter registration and candidate registration information so that he can run in the District 1 Special Election for Todd Apo's old council seat.

In the formally non-partisan winner-take-all race, Kahele, a Democrat, will face former GOP State Rep Bob McDermott, and Democrats Matthew LoPresti and Christopher Lewis.  But Kahele’s chances may hinge on voters, media, and opposing campaigns not having time to do research.  Kahele carries a lot of baggage, including a metaphorical steamer trunk loaded with the fragrant burden of Waimanalo Gulch.

Last year, Souza provided equipment used for a beach-cleaning contract at Ko Olina held by a company headed by Paul Hospodar, chief of security at the Ko Olina Resort, business records show….Hospodar was fired from the police force in 1995 for violent behavior and alleged drug abuse....

The effort is very similar to the smear campaign run in 1998 and 2002 against then-candidate Linda Lingle.  Progressive activists then claimed that the Jewish Lingle would abolish the Christmas Holiday for government employees and insinuated she was a lesbian—a smear which can be heard to this day. 

Whether it is Judaism or Christianity, it seems that attacking the Religion of GOP gubernatorial candidates is stock-in-trade for Hawaii Democrats.

Congressman Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii awarded Pacific Biodiesel a $3.5 million earmark to try to grow fuel for the Army in Hawaii. It turns out the founder of Pacific Biodiesel is a co-chair of the Congressman's gubernatorial campaign.  The pattern is repeated over and over....

Citizens Against Government Waste: Rep. Abercrombie’s latest outrage is to slip a provision (Sec. 2833) into the House version of the 2010 Defense Authorization Act that would double the construction costs of relocating 11,600 U.S. troops from Japan to Guam.... OpenSecrets.org lists the Hunt Building Company, which is headquartered in Texas and would be one of the prime builders of the facilities on Guam, as among Abercrombie’s top five campaign contributors in the 2007-2008 election cycle. The Hawai`i Free Press reported on August 4 that Hunt has contributed at least $32,500 to Abercrombie’s re-election since 2002.

As a hippie transplant from Buffalo, Neil Abercrombie was in the late 1960s and early 1970s involved in a scandal over tearing down military facilities--fighting to drive the ROTC out of what 1960s anti-American war activists called “the shacks” on the UH Manoa campus.

Four decades later, as a Congressman, Abercrombie could become embroiled in a scandal over building up military facilities--steering construction contracts of a military base on Guam towards a major campaign contributor.

1) Pay-for-play politics with military contractors and other contributors

2) Efforts to organize dependency groups controlled by political cronies and put them in control of "land and assets" (Akaka Bill)

3) Efforts to undermine the traditional family and marriage, and efforts to extend "hate crimes' protection to pedophiles

4) Consistent support for socialized medicine, Carbon Tax and other tax increases.

5) Consistent opposition to Israel and advocacy on behalf of the foreign policy interests of Islamist terrorist groups.

The key word in the Abercrombie campaign’s four-word response is “confirmed”....

Neil Abercrombie has for years, maybe decades, been included among a small group of Congressmen who describe their religion as “unaffiliated” or “unspecified.”  But within the last seven days, Hawaii media outlets have suddenly begun describing Abercrombie as “Episcopalian.”

In his response, Abercrombie said that his opponent "spins facts."

"Congress.org is a Republican front organization that rates me in the same category as Sen. Daniel Inouye," he said, referring to Hawaii's longtime senator.
