Scapegoats? Federal grand jury indicts two civilian workers over Red Hill disaster
HNN: … A federal grand jury indicted two men in connection with the Red Hill fuel disaster that poisoned the water for thousands of people.
The 11-page indictment accuses John Floyd and Nelson Wu, civilian workers for Navy Supply Systems, of conspiracy and making false statements about the May 2021 Red Hill fuel leak. That led to another leak in November 2021….
“Investigators at the Hawaii Department of Health asked the Navy for information regarding this spill, and the information they requested had the obvious question of how much jet fuel went into Oahu’s soil?”
According to the indictment, the “couplings on the pipeline at Red Hill failed” during an attempted transfer of jet fuel from tank 12 to tank 9.
And the “attempted transfer was aborted after approximately 20,000 gallons of jet fuel” spilled into the tunnel.
The court records continue, Floyd and Wu “falsely stated” to the Navy that the “May 6, 2021, pipeline breach released an estimated 1,618 gallons,” significantly less.
Military officials then re-circulated that false information to the DOH.
“This case is about a cover up,” Simon said.
“According to the indictment, Mr. Floyd and Mr. Wu conspired to provide false information to their bosses,” who responded to DOH’s inquiry.
The charges against Floyd and Wu are felonies with each carrying a maximum of five years.
But some are questioning why only two civilians are taking the fall for such a disaster.
Retired federal public defender Alexander Silvert said some might think Floyd and Wu are “scapegoats” who “are going to accept the blame for everything, including exonerating the military from having intentionally and knowingly done anything wrong,” and that could look like another cover up ….

Video: EMS Boss Jim Ireland joins police chase, drives wrong way on H-1 Freeway
HNN: … police pursued Jardinewhite after he was reportedly seen breaking windows of parked cars in the Ward area.
As for that SUV, many speculated the driver was also running from police. But that wasn’t the case.
The man behind the wheel was Honolulu Emergency Services director Jim Ireland, and he’s setting the record straight.
In a statement, Ireland said he saw Jardinewhite run through traffic, get hit by a car on Ward Avenue, and head for the H-1 Freeway.
He said he looked seriously injured, so he followed him and the officers in pursuit, driving the EMS SUV with his sirens and lights on to slow down traffic and ensure no officers or drivers were injured.
Sources told Hawaii News Now Ireland also picked up one of the officers so he wouldn’t get hit by any vehicles.
Once Jardinewhite was in custody, Ireland said he provided life support and treatment until an ambulance took him to the hospital.
He also said he’s trained and certified in emergency driving, and it was his goal to protect the suspect and the officers and initiate care as soon as possible.
Jardinewhite is due back in court on Sept. 5….

Trump Cuts Funding for UH Sea Level Hysteria
KH: … A recent round of federal funding cuts is expected to impact the University of Hawai‘i’s modeling of (imaginary) sea level rise impacts, which could result in the loss of (in)accurate climate projections, university officials fear.
This funding cut could impact a $3 million grant from the Office of Naval Research to the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, which was awarded to Chip Fletcher, interim dean of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology, to support the Coastal Research Collaborative (Department of Hysteria Generation).
The collaborative provides data and high-resolution modeling of (imaginary) sea level rise impacts, heat exposure and precipitation extremes—critical tools that inform decisions made by (create excuses for) state and county agencies, urban planners, infrastructure designers, and emergency managers (to hike taxes, fuel costs, and utility rates and take your land).
“The loss of federal funding for Hawaiʻi’s climate and sea level rise research will have devastating consequences for the state’s ability to plan, adapt and protect its people and resources (come up with excuses for seizing property, raising taxes, fuel costs, and utility rates),” said Fletcher….
(CLUE: Don’t get too excited. Trump only cut $3M. UH will find a way to keep churning out eco-lies.)

Socialists Freak Out Because Homeless Tent City to be Replaced by 62 Homeless Tiny Homes
MN: … The state-run shelter called Pu‘uhonua o Nēnē opened two years ago to house Lahaina residents who were houseless before the August 2023 wildfire, and eventually expanded to include anyone on Maui experiencing homelessness. Currently, the shelter is at capacity with 66 people living there, including 24 fire survivors. …
(DO THE MATH: 66-24 = 42 new homeless who have moved in since the fire.)
Last week, a group of fire survivors represented by Mālama Law Group sent a letter to Hawai‘i Gov. Josh Green calling for answers about the future of the temporary housing site. …
(Yep. Two years later, the homeless are still homeless. But the socialists are upset because they may soon get tiny homes.)
Campos said the state now is working with local agencies such as Family Life Center to assess the needs of the people living at Pu‘uhonua o Nēnē to see if they qualify for the new housing project or require other services such as mental health counseling or substance abuse programs….
Privacy has been a major concern at Pu‘uhonua o Nēnē, with community advocates saying that forcing a group of strangers to live together in a tent was risky. Last year, officials with Project Vision Hawai‘i, which managed the site for the state, acknowledged that three people had died there.
Campos said the deaths all were related to “underlying health conditions” but couldn’t comment further on the details.
However, there now is 24-hour security around the site….
Kīpūola Kauhale will be the first kauhale on Maui under Green’s Kauhale Initiative, which aims to set up a series of affordable communal living spaces across the state to address homelessness. ...
“It’s ‘unconscionable’ for the State to implement a program that will essentially remove the limited stability and safety these ‘vulnerable’ folks currently have “if” they don’t qualify under the new ‘parameters’,” Noelani Ahia of Maui Medic Healers Hui (insert name of some socialist group) said via text. “Making the houseless more houseless is not the answer.”
(QUESTION: Shrooms? Just asking.)
